Message from Ruth Holt x

Dear Young Women,

Phew, what a week! You will hopefully have heard by now that our presidency was released at Stake Conference last Sunday.

Firstly, a word about my forever friends Emma, Leah and Julie. Whenever I meet someone new I try to take a quality or attribute I admire in them and apply it to my own life. Emma had so many beautiful qualities I had a lot to choose from! She definitely won the presidency glamour contest-even after two nights on camp she would look immaculate and unruffled! Glamour is not my strong point so I chose another 'Emma attribute', she taught me that we need not be afraid of sharing our knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; praying and reading our scriptures can be more than just a 'guilty pleasure' and we should be vocal in our love for this our Saviour's church. Emma told me today that she is enjoying retirement:) but misses you already. What a blessing she will be to her new baby when he/she arrives!

Leah was a joy to serve with and despite our age gap, we found a shared sense of humour, particularly on occasions when we probably should have been more serious (oops!) Leah typifies a virtuous young woman, her testimony shines from her. She is busy serving in the YSA ward and can regularly be seen displaying her moves on the dance floor at YSA dances!

Julie, a generous, kind hearted woman, I love her. Young women of the Stretford ward , treasure your president! She taught me that service is not always big and brash. A kind word, a quiet chat or a hug is sometimes just what Heavenly Father ordered and I ALWAYS get a hug!

So, as one presidency leaves, another begins. I am joined by Michelle Grant who is serving with me by assignment for the time being and is already proving to be all I had hoped for, getting this blog updated and word out about all the fabulous activities we are organising in the coming months. Get ready for an exciting year ahead. We are working hard already to make it one to remember... Watch this space!

I am both excited and more than a little nervous about my new responsibility (smiles, chats and hugs are welcomed!) but please know that I am totally committed to serving you, the amazing Young Women of the Manchester Stake and your devoted ward leaders. I look forward to sharing time with you, having fun with you and watching you become all that you can be. The Church is True and I love it!!!

YOUNG WOMEN LUNCH & GENERAL YOUNG WOMEN BROADCAST

Hi girls,
Just a reminder that we will be having young women lunch at 2pm this Saturday, 31st March.  We really hope that you can come or else we will be left to eat all the pizza!!
You will also be given your pillowcases for camp and your kit list.
Lunch will be followed by General Young Womens broadast at 3pm and we are excited for this.  If we follow the counsel given by our Stake President and come with a question in our mind, write it down on one side of our pice of paper and write our impressions and feelings down on the other side as we listen to those who will speak to us, we will find our answers.
So see you Saturday, don't forget your paper/pen and your appetite and you will be fed both with pizza and spiritually.
Emma will not be there as she and Luke are away on a well deserved holiday.  We will miss you Emma but hope you have a great, relaxing holiday.  See you when you get back!
GETTING EXCITED FOR CAMP!!!!  Not long now yipee!

MANCHESTER STAKE YOUNG WOMEN PRAYER CHALLENGE

This year the worldwide theme for Youth is 'Arise and shine forth'. We decided as a stake that we wanted our lights to shine brighter so we decided to commit ourselves to kneeling in prayer daily.
Your challenge is to spend 10-15 minutes on your knees each day for 30 days!  At the end of the challenge contact Emma Kerr - garretemma@hotmail.com and we will have a little presentation for each girl who completed 30 days. You have until July to complete your task and get your name in.  You also need to read 3 Nephi.  We know that as you do this challenge you will be blessed both in spirit, mind and body.
We love you and want the best for you.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL YOU WONDERFUL YOUNG WOMEN!

Well, we hope that you enjoyed the New Years Eve Eve Dance on the 30th December.  Paul Sleem was great as usual and we also heard from Fred Diamonds band the Newtons.  It was so great to see so many of you there enjoying yourselves and also mixing with non-member friends and those who had travelled from the other stakes. We had more than 100 youth in attendance, which was really good considering that the weather that day was so bad and also the fact that there had been some really bad traffic jams. Thanks to all who helped to set up and clear up and man the car parks.
We, as a Stake Young Womens Presidency are really excited about this New Year and are looking forward to the many activities that are being planned.  We are planning a Young Womens camp in April and there will also be a Youth Conference to look forward to in the summer, plus many other things.
We hope that you will continue with your Personal Progress, just as we are, and that we can share our experiences together.
Don't forget the fireside on Sunday (8th January) at 7.30pm, we look forward to meeting with you.  Please bring along your scriptures, notebook and pen/pencil.  We are going to be hearing from members of our Stake Presidency. We want you to know that we love you all and want to get to know you better.

YOUNG WOMEN IN EXCELLENCE

Two weeks ago Young Women in Excellence was held at the Manchester Stake Centre, it was wonderful to see so many of you there, along with your parents and leaders.  We also had the oportunity to welcome President Gregson, who had recently been called onto the newly reorganized Stake Presidency and later was to address us.  The evening evening was conducted by our Stake Young Womens President, Sister Emma Kerr who welcomed all to the evening.  There was a wonderful spirit in attendance especially as the assigned young women from each ward stood and bore their testimonies about Personal Progress and the way in which they each had gained their testimonies. Many mentioned how Personal Progress had been a challenge to them or perhaps had not been as important as it should been but once it had been embraced the difference had been amazing and their hearts were touched and testimonies of this great program were born.  Some of you actually liked doing Personal Progress!! and that was evident in the ribbons gained and recognition given.  Bethany Lithgoe from the Swinton played a musical item on her flute and you were all treated? to a musical item from your Stake Young Womens Presidency.  After the meeting concluded we socialised in the Relief Society room with cupcakes in value colours, and other goodies.   Feedback was very positive and we loved being there with you all and sharing your wonderul spirit. We are grateful for the support of parents and leaders.
Just a reminder about our 'event' on Friday 16th December and Seminary activity prior to this.  Look forward to seeing you all there!

AT LONG LAST!

Finally I have managed to get onto this site to update our blog.

WOW, what an amazing evening was had by all at the Dance/Art Festival last weekend - Manchester Stake Youth at their best.  You are all so talented!  It was great to see so many people supporting this event and to see the enjoyment that was shared by everyone of all ages.  Thanks to our Stake Youth leaders, ward leaders, judges, compere  and all those that helped with costumes, dance routines, make up, music etc; you helped to make it all come together.  The art pieces were fantastic, well done to all you young women who took part.
Just a reminder that Sunday 20th November is Stake Conference and you are providing a musical item.  Could you please strive to arrive at the Stake Centre by 9am to practice for this.

EFY Natasha Reynolds

Efy was a great experience, it allowed us all to make loads of new friends. Also, it helped us to have fun whilst also helping us to come closer to our heavenly father. Efy helped me to be able to build my testimony and become more confident. It allowed everyone in there groups come closer by working together on acheiving their group
goals which we made at the beginning of the week and by working together to make our company banners and cheers. The lessons also helped us to learn more. What I will miss most about efy is all the friends I made and the people in my company as we were like one big family how we was always together and worked together as a team and also enjoyed our time together doing different activities. EFY is definately an experience I would like to have again

Getting Involved

This site is created using a Blogger format. It is easy to get involved but there are a couple of simple things to know.

Firstly you will notice at the bottom of each section you will see a space to "comment" here you can add your thoughts.

This will open a small window that allows you to add your comments.

There are 4 options, if you choose "Anonymous", which is the easiest I won't know who posted the comment so you may want to include your name in the comments ! The best option is to use the top one, which is "Google Account". Setting up a Google account is quick, easy and free, you just need to provide an email address and choose a user name and password. In the picture the users name is RJR

Another benefit of a Google account is you can choose to follow this blog (or any other)

Following allows you to keep up to date with new items added. Of course you can just add the site to your bookmarks/favourites and pop in now and again. I will be trying to keep things up to date, so hopefully  it will be worth a visit.

You will also notice in the side of the page there are Facebook like options (please use !) and a "follow by email" option which allows you to enter your email and you will get a notification when something is added.
